This internship was in the Human Resource Department of one of the leading producers of homeopathic products in Germany. I benchmarked expatriate salaries, organized and coordinated the 11 apprentices, arranged the in-house training for 2005/2006 and set up expatriate long-term and local contracts. Furthermore, I dealt with SAP R/3 HR as well as Ms Office on a daily basis.

I undertook this job during my degree to support my studies. The skills I received included: team work, working under time pressure, handling difficult customers and situations. I worked closely with customers and experienced training in selling and preparing food and drinks.

Roche Molecular Systems, Inc, Pleasanton, California, USA. This internship included an introduction to the marketing field. My responsibilities included evaluating surveys, getting specific information on pharmaceuticals from the internet, and supporting other colleagues in their marketing work. I experienced working in a different country and living abroad for 2 months. During the placement I was in constant interaction with the Head of Marketing and attained insights into the marketing field.

During the summer I was working in a home for the disabled, which includes a school and a workshop. I got involved in working with the disabled in the laundry department. The activities included supporting and helping mentally and physically disabled adults. I experienced all facets of working closely and interacting with disabled people.

Roche Diagnostics S.L. Barcelona, Spain. I undertook an internship in the Accounting and Purchasing Department. The whole apprenticeship was carried out in Spanish and introduced me to the different parts of an organisation. I had to deal with different cultures and attend meetings in Spanish, which required team working, determination and self-motivation. This placement shows that I can adjust to difficult and different situations.
