On the 10th Of May 2013 Australian Belt Cleaning were engaged to assist Ulan Underground Coal mine in eliminating carry back and assist in a solution for more effective belt cleaning. The scope of Works of which were initially discussed revolved around a maintenance free installation

the cost effective use of their new cleaner as opposed to our existing style

the use of mechanical trades on other tasks

and eliminating the need for belt cleaning Operators 24/7. The Cleanscrape Primary scraper was installed on 30th August 2013 at two locations. Longwall #27 conveyor (a total of 450000t of coal at 4.6 m/sec in the first 4 weeks) and North 2 Development conveyor (1100m of development coal at 3.2m/s in the first 4 weeks). The initial results have been outstanding

eliminating any maintenance or adjustments (prior cleaners required maintenance twice a week

constant monitoring

transfer and carry back cleaning). The Cleanscrape Primary was installed on a 2 month trial of which will be finalized at the end of October. I have already Commissioned Australian Belt Cleaning to install a further 2 Primary cleaners on two trunk belts of which are l800 mm wide and run at 4.6m/s. The cleaners are so effective; we anticipate we have them installed on each transfer point by 25 December 2013. We are now patiently waiting the arrival of the Secondary Cleaner of which I hope to be the first Australian Mineral producer to have the pleasure of installing and trialing!
