Liaised with and advocated for Australian business interests in Taiwan, negotiating for maintenance and improved market access. Managed key consultative negotiations.

Managed the team controlling HR, budget (over €250,000 annually) and administration of the geographical division responsible for key Australian relationships with Japan, China, Taiwan and the Koreas. Day-to-day administration of Division, necessitating extensive liaison across various areas within the Department. During my tenure, I won the Division a budget increase, all management targets were achieved and we performed well in audit.

Furthered Australia’s interests in Japan (with a focus on UN policy issues and a range of interpreting, translation and public diplomacy duties including radio and television interviews). Created and managed a new multi-national team to manage protocol and programs for high-level visitors to Japan.
