William Samuel McDonald

FCS is principally concerned with assisting US exporters, particularly SMEs, in entering the European market. My work has consisted of supporting officers in preparing reports on various pieces of EU legislation. Through this internship I have developed substantial knowledge on the EU's industrial standards (REACH, RoHS, WEEE) and consumer standards (CE marking and Eco-Label).

The ITC's goal is fostering markets within developing nations. I worked within the "Creative Industries" section. My work largely focused on the market for Haitian handicrafts. I also proof-read a manual intended for use by consultants doing fieldwork on the ITC's behalf.

The RSC was planning to redevelop its historic theatres in Stratford-upon-Avon. My job was to prepare a section of their planning application. My section summarised the data (public consultations, third-party surveys) that the RSC had accumulated over two years on attitudes to the proposed re-development.
