In over 10 years of professional experience, I have noticed that many start-ups neglect the administrative areas (accounting, payroll, procurement, P2P, etc.) in the growth phase and later have to spend huge sums to scale them. Often people try to map the core business with powerful solutions in accounting, whereas it would often be easier to set up the core processes according to basic commercial principles, which were previously deprioritized compared to speed. This is where I help companies. I think it is a mistake to fill originally commercial jobs with more and more academics. Of course, every sector and every company needs academics to ensure progress and development, but today hardly any academics work in academic positions but in commercial ones. What used to be done by a wholesale and foreign trade merchant is now done by supply chain managers or buyers with at least a bachelor's degree, but who have never checked an order confirmation beforehand.
