Our energy system needs to be electrified as the cost of renewable energies continues to drop. However, whereas traditional fossil-based fuels offer availability, wind and solar energy are only available intermittently. We work at Fraunhofer ISE on what it takes to use cheap renewable electricity for the production of green fuels from carbon dioxide and hydrogen. An important key solution to accelerate the energy transition and achieve the net-zero emission target by 2050.
