During this eventful period I’ve been a member of teams varying from 4 to 50 people, dealing with anything from big legacy codebases to green field projects; from enterprise architectures to single page applications and RESTful services; from large retail corporations to smaller education companies; from “once a year” big bang releases to continuous delivery gigs.

Locaweb is the largest web hosting company in Latin America, offering also a diversified portfolio of Internet services including: cloud servers, e-mail, webstore, and payment gateways. Most of our projects were new applications using C# and Ruby stacks that had to communicate with an existing codebase of classical ASP, and MSSQL Server stored procedures.

Most of our projects were enhancements on top of existing applications with varied size that involved interfaces with third party systems and an enterprise service bus. The dominant technologies were C/Pro*C, Java, and PL/SQL. These years were characterized by a quick succession of roles: from developer, to analyst, to project manager.
