Our research group was mainly focused on studying the effects of nonclassical and nonlinear interaction between light and matter. During my PhD, I developed a theoretical model for measurement of particular energy decay processes in quantum dots. My research involved: - the analytic derivation of the theoretical model - the (parallelized) implementation in C and Mathematica - supervision of students - and the organisation of the group seminar

During my Master thesis, I worked on nanoelectromagnetical devices, which are basically motors on the nanoscale. I investigated the suitability of graphene for conversion between vibrational and electrical energy.
