As Managing Director of StaRGET GmbH - Staschus Research for Global Energy Transition - consulting part-time for ENTSO-E (as Chief Innovation Officer) to chair the European Technology and Innovation Platform – ETIP - “Smart Networks for Energy Transition” (etip-snet.eu) and Cigré Study Committee C1 System Development and Economics

- Founding Secretary-General from 2009 - Leveraged M€18 budget, ≈75 staff + >2000 experts from 42 TSOs, 35 countries, through work products from 200 groups+projects into data, plans, laws which support European power market integration and energy transition - Legal mandates from 4 EU laws for Ten-Year Network Development Plans, Network Codes which become EU laws, EU transparency software et al.

Besides general management, managing the transition from VDN to BDEW and R&D leadership roles, drove utility and car industry cooperation for electric vehicle market introduction

- Build-up of VDN to 21 staff and from 213 to 435 members (95% of the total German grid km operated by the 4 TSOs and about 900 DSOs) - VDN’s technical and business guidelines, followed in all German grids, made the electricity market work; incl. grid fees/codes, system control, metering, renewables, connection conditions, data exchange, safety certification - ebIX Chair 2005-06: data exchange rules for European energy market

- Led team of 5, coordination of joint activities of the 8 large German integrated electricity companies/TSOs in pro-active market opening: open access conditions, grid pricing, ancillary services, reliability, renewables, statistics - Chairman of UCTE Working Group Operational Statistics since 7/97; instrumental in writing "General Principles of the European TSOs", the basis for cross-border pricing since 3/2000 (+ first steps for congestion management)

- Led team of 12 staff + consultants for analytical methods, software, data systems: generation investment planning, contract evaluation, resource bidding, production simulation, reliability, hydro-thermal production planning - Responsible for computing and database policy in the Business Unit - Strong growth in R&D Dept. sponsorship of projects

Dept. of Non-Conventional Energy Sources: Development and application of a model for optimal utility capacity planning including renewable energy and conservation

Dissertation: Renewable resources in electric utility planning: A Decomposition Approach with Application to a Mexican Utility. Included teaching and research assistantship positions.
