I investigated the phenomenon of optical control of magnetism. In particular, I studied the effects of femtosecond laser pulses on non-collinear spins in ferrimagnets. The laser-induced dynamics of magnetism were studied using the time-resolved imaging and ultrasensitive trace measurement setups that I built, during the course of my research.
Master of Science in Physics at the University of Bonn with a specialization in the fields of quantum optics and condensed matter physics. As part of my thesis I carried out an experimental study of the laser-induced charge carrier dynamics in a thermoelectric semiconductor, using the method of time-resolved spectroscopy. The findings provide further means to investigate the unusually low thermal conductivity of the material.
