I worked in an European research proyect focused on the production of textile fabrics resistant to fire with high performances and quality. Specifically, the improvement in the combustion behavior of textiles is reached by the addition of nanoparticles during the finishing step. Different approaches were proposed such as simple immersion and further fixation of nanoparticles by heating and pressing, sol-gel process and coating. The samples were characterized by cone calorimeter measurements.

The miscibility of acrylic and fluorinated polymeric systems was studied by differential scanning calorimetry and infrared spectroscopy techniques. Three different compositions (in weight) of the systems Tecnoflon/Paraloid B72, Tecnoflon/Polyethyl methacrylate) (PEMA), Tecnoflon/Polymethyl acrylate (PMA) and Poly(2,2,2-trifluoro ethyl methacrylate)(HFIFA-BVE)/Paraloid B72 were studied. The mixtures of Tecnoflon with Paraloid B72, PEMA and PMA were miscible; while the mixtures of Paraloid B72 with HFIFA-BVE.
