The main purpose of my job at KB Ráðgjöf, KB Consulting, is to translate the pension-, insurance- and banking legislation and meaning into to Icelandic. There are more matters like raising awareness and knowledge to the customer i.e. make them more educated consumers. Customers where both individuals and companies. I had over 3500 customers and for companies there was for example Bechtel Int. I took care of all their pension issues, from the beginning to the end.

I was working as a project manager in business development department at Skyggnir hf. Numerous large projects, for example operational cost for international wide area network for Icelandair, technology review and recommendations, cost analyses and distribution. Movement of main computer facility of Eimskip. People involved in each project varied from 30-160 directly and 2000+ indirectly. I also participated in defining and developing work processes within the company and some foreign affairs.

There I build up this operation, work definitions through out the company so it could function as a whole team in reactions in case of operational failures at customer site as well as the core systems of the company, both technical and business wise. That included center nodes (routers, switches, etc.), cooling systems, UPS’s, fiber optic network, GSM transmitters, Cantat3, etc. Also I put together and ran a course for the helpdesk on the concept of companies systems, troubleshooting and service levels.

My responsibilities were computer systems, wide area network, user support and telephone network. Many issues where tackled like Y2K, reconfiguring of WAN, design for a new distribution center, relocation of headquarters, redefining of the computer environment and telephone operation, licenses, etc. During that time the problem tickets each month went down by 51% and helpdesk personal where decreased by 33%. Some foreign affairs were addressed.
