Responsible for mid-term business planning, the establishment and management of joint ventures and other partnerships, monitoring of market and competitor trends and formulation of appropriate actions, reporting of functional performance, organization of country business reviews, and activities of the regional board.

Responsible for the controlling of Ground Operations costs in both regions (~140 countries), and fully responsible for the Hubs and for all Aviation activities in both regions. This includes all regular finance activities for Aviation and for hubs (planning and budgeting, accounting, statutory and management reporting, accounts payable and receivable, development of business cases, treasury). Responsible for a team of ~50 staff in six locations. Total cost responsibility of ~ €1.5bn p.a.

Responsible for a regional program tasked with reducing operating costs by ~2% p.a.. The program entailed the generation, documentation and rollout of specific operative initiatives (currently ~25) and the establishment of a measurement and steering system. Took the lead in budgeting OPS costs of ~ €530 p.a., and in regularly monitoring and challenging the development of costs, unit cost, productivity, etc. in the main countries in Asia Pacific.

As part of Corporate Development, the responsibilities lie in supporting the Chairman of the Board of Management in the development of the long-term strategy of the group and in its communication both externally (e.g., annual report) and internally. Most of the time, this meant setting up and getting involved in strategy projects of significant impact for the group which involve more than one business unit and require a neutral moderation to make group interest prevail.
