Elisabeth Opie BA LLB(Hons) LLM GAICD has almost 20 years’ international experience in the global innovation system. Holding senior legal and executive positions, Elisabeth has worked with industry, spin-offs, research organisations and government. She has extensive experience in international business transactions, policy advice, negotiation and alternative dispute resolution. Her legal and executive experience has been developed across sectors such as IT, automotive, aerospace, health and energy.

Strategic analysis and identification of domestic and overseas market opportunities, with a view to focusing and advancing international cooperation, and entry into new markets.

Overseas assignment for CSIRO. Provide leadership to focus efforts of various stakeholders and clients, provide market analysis and advice, and be a point of interface between industry and applied research organisations.

Trusted adviser to the Board and Executive Team. Leading the CSIRO Board and Executive Office, designed and implemented governance and process improvements (bench-marked as best practice).

With expertise in IP-related matters, led and participated in multi-cultural and multidisciplinary transactions teams for a range of transactions (international alliances, M&A, joint ventures, company formation, demergers and windups, technology transfer and licensing) across multiple industry sectors (Information Communications and Technology, Mining, Automotive, Aerospace, Health, Food, Energy and Environment). 14 direct reports, and 42 indirect reports.
