Worked on national research project METER (Measuring and Evaluating Time- and Energy- use Relationships), to understand what we use electricity for. Supervised by Dr Phil Grunewald (Deputy Director of Energy Research at ECI). • Developed new methods to attribute energy use to household activities. • Developed algorithm for event detection in household load profile and prepared training data. • Built deep learning based LSTM model to detect events in household load profile.

Worked on research project ’5G Network Enabling Smart Grid’. • Installed step up in the building to collect electricity use data of appliances through smart plugs and prepared training data. • Used machine learning algorithms based on Factorial Hidden Markov Model and Combinatorial Optimization for energy disaggregation of load profile from main meter into appliance level data. • Transferred main meter data to utility and disaggregated appliance’s data to user using 5G network with low latency.
